SAYYIDS DYNASTY

Sayyids Dynasty was established by Khizr Khan, who was deputized by Timur to be the governor of Multan (Punjab). Khizr Khan took Delhi from Daulat Khan Lodi on May 28, 1414 and founded the Sayyid dynasty. He claimed to be descended from the prophet Muhammad.

The last king of this dynasty, Alam Shah was incompetent and retired to Budaun leaving Delhi in charge of his minister Hamid Khan. Hamid invited Bahlul Lodi to the capital. Bahlul came and assumed full power, allowing Allam Shah to continue living in Badaun. Thus started the Lodi dynasty.
