Sharqi Sultans (the Sultanate of the East)

In A.D1393, having placed Mahmud bin Muhammad on the throne of Delhi, Malik Sarvar, Khwaja Jahan, threw off his allegiance to that sultanate and set himself up as an independent ruler with his base at Jaunpur. He died in A.D 1399 (A.H 802) And left his territories to his adopted son, who ascended the throne of Jaunpur under the name of Mubarak Shah. Mubarak is said to have struck coins in his name, but no such coins have yet been found. When he died suddenly in A.D1402, he was succeeded by his younger brother who became Shams-ud-din Ibrahim Shah (A.D1402-1440) He struck the coins in his name.

When after the accession of Sikandar Lodi in Delhi, Husain, the sultan of Jaunpur, incited Barbak to rebel. Sikandar first defeated Barbak and then moved against Husain. Husain fled to Bengal where he lived out his days. Jaunpur was thus completely re-absorbed into Delhi sultanate.
